Nonpenetrating deep sclerectomy with absorbable suture implant in open-angle glaucoma

ObjectiveTo discuss and analyze the surgical method,effects and complication of nonpenetrating deep sclerectomy.MethodsDeep sclerectomy with absorbable suture implant was per formed on 26 eyes of 18 patients with open-angle glaucoma.ResultsThe follow-up was 3-14 months (mean 6 months),mean in t racular pressure(IOP) decreased from properative value of (38.5±4.3)mmHg to pos tperative value of (17.1±5.2)mmHg without antiglaucoma medications(P0.05) ,and IOP≤21 mmHg was achieved in 21 eyes(80.8%).IOP21 mmHg occurred in 5 eyes (19.2%) and hyphema occurred in 2 eyes after operation.Flat chamber,inflammatio n and choroidal detachment were not observed.ConclusionDeep sclerectomy with absorbable suture iplant is a valuable methods for treatment of open-angle glaucoma.But the procedure is comp licated and long-time clinical effectiveness should be studied extensively.
