Abstract

The effect of tomato yellow leaf curl virus(TYLCV) on chlorophll content, net photosynthetic rates(Pn),stomatal conductance(Gs),intercellular CO2 concentration(Ci) and chloroplast ultra-structure were studied. The results showed that, compared with the healthy leaves, the chlorophll a,b and a+b of diseased leaves reduced 50.2%,24.19% and 43.84%,the Pn and the Gs of diseased leaves decreased 43.28%,27.07%,but the Ci of diseased leaves increased 13.04%.The ultra-structural analysis showed that the chloroplast in diseased leaves was deformed, most chloroplast grana were dissolved, the inner and outer membrane of chloroplast delaminated. In addition, some organelles were dissolved and plasmolysis and the inner membrane were embolic. The structure was destroyed by TYLCV infection. The results indicated that TYLCV infection destroyed the chloroplast structure and reduced the photosynthesis in tomato leaf.
