Reconsideration on the Conception of Truth-bearers

The notion of truth-bearers occupies an important role both in philosophy and logic.Surrounding this concept,there are two dominant yet opposite theories in China:the proposition theory which regards propositions as the bearers of truth and the sentence theory which regards sentences as the bearers of truth.These two theories stem from Frege and Quine.It will be a beneficial perspective for these two theories to reconsider on Frege's and Quine's viewpoints on the concept of truth-bearer in the circumstances of the truth theories of each of their own.For the special purpose of philosophy to pursue the general understanding of the world,the problem surrounding truth-bearers is an important and central issue,for the controversy about truth-bearers by philosophers is ultimately originated by their different understandings of meaning,identity and the act of speech.For the special purpose of logic for the pursuit of the generality of truth,the question surrounding truth-bearer is an important one,but not a central issue in logic.
