Abstract
Porcine circovirus-associated disease(PCVAD)has emerged as an economically important pig disease globally.Porcine circovirus type 2(PCV-2)-associated enteritis is one of PCVAD,and its clinical signs are diarrhea, growth retardation or weight loss in growing pigs.Large amounts of PCV-2specific antigens could be detected in intestines and lymohoid tissues, meanwhile characteristic microscopic lesions could be observed. It is reported that under experimental conditions,PCV-2could induce enteritis independently or together with other pathogens and oral challenge is an important infection route for PCV-2-associated enteritis.PCV-2is also a causative agent of enteric disorders in growing pigs, which needs more attention. In this article, the recent achievements in clinical signs, histopathological features, impact of multi-pathogen co-infection,diagnosis and control measures of PCV-2-associated enteritis were reviewed in order to serve as important references for researchers in this field.
