Abstract
By means of observing and studying diachronic development and synchronic evolution of usages of the Chinese function words huo and huohuo,the author suggests that: First,as a Chinese function morpheme,huo derives from the Chinese words 和、合 and 活.Second,huohuo is a Chinese function morpheme used to imitate sounds and describe features from start.But in modern dialect of Chinese,it is mainly used to describe features.
