In recent years,covert interviewis preferred by some media for its advantage in some special reporting field com-pared to overt interview.However,we should be fully aware that covert interviewis a kind of trick played only when we haveto.It can meanto obtaintruthrather thanthe way media attract audience attention andraise their watchingrate.The rationalityof covert interviewis suspected fromthe aspect of bothlawand morality over and over again because it usually keeps back thereporter and reporting purpose.This paper startsfromthe professional morality of the pressinvolvedin covert interview;exploresthe moral self-discipline of news reporter,and pays close attention toits negativeinfluence on the public-convincing power ofmedia.Key words :covert interview;professional morality of the press;public-convincing power of media
