Aim To investigate the correlation of protective effect of propofol on lipopolysaccharide-induced(LPS-induced) acute lung injury with nuclear Nrf2 expression of lung epithelial cell.Methods The model of acute lung injury in mice was established by intraperitoneal injection(ip) LPS,the mice were randomly divided into Control group,LPS group,LPS + Prop group,LPS + Inp group and Prop group,mice survival rate,lung wet / dry weight ratio,total protein concentration and WBC count in(bronchoalveolar lavage fluid) BALF,SOD activity and MDA content,and nuclear Nrf2 expression of lung epithelial cell were determined.Results LPS injection led to a decrease of mice survival rate,increases of lung wet / dry ratio,total protein concentration and WBC count in BALF,a depression of SOD activity and an increase of MDA content. Propofol significantly enhanced nuclear Nrf2expression of lung epithelial cell. Conclusion Propofol has protective effects on LPS-induced acute lung injury,which may be relevant to activation of nuclear Nrf2 expression by propofol.
