Abstract

OBJECTIVE:To investigate the protective effects of captopril on acute lung injury induced by lipopolysaccharide(LPS).METHODS:Male SD rats were subjected to acute lung injury by LPS.Pulmonary coefficient, water content of lung and scores of pathology were detected to evaluate the protective effects of captopril. The activities of superoxide dismutase(SOD),glutathione peroxidase(GSH-Px) and the content of malondialdehyde(MDA) were analyzed to examine the anti-oxidation of captopril;Inter-cellular adhesion molecular-1(ICAM-1),tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α),interleukin-1β(IL-1β) were also measured by Elisa method to detect the changes of acute lung injury.RESULTS:After the treatment of captopril, pulmonary coefficient, water content of lung and scores of pathology were decreased(P0.05 or P0.01);The activities of SOD、GSH-Px were increased and the content of MDA were lowed(P0.05 or P0.01);ICAM-1,TNF-α and IL-1β were also suppressed(P0.05 or P0.01).CONCLUSION:Captopril has protective effect on acute lung injury induced by LPS,the mechanism may be partly due to its anti-oxidation and anti-inflammatory properties.
