Abstract

OFDM(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing)systems are sensitive to frequency offset, which will degenerate the system performance.Due to the severe Doppler shift, the application of OFDM in underwater acoustic channel is limited. In this paper, the effect of frequency offset on the performance of OFDM systems is analyzed. We propose a frequency synchronization method that is suitable for underwater acoustic communication.Simulation results have shown that this method has high estimation precision and it could track wide range of frequency offset. The method is also effective when tested in a lake;it can improve the system performance.
