Abstract

Based on the world-system theory and the dependency theory, this paper firstly summarized the imbalanced relationship between the core and periphery of the region in the global era;and combined with the theory of value chain and that of world city, the research also summarizes the basic model for the geographical features of distribution;Second, through calculating the location quotient, functional strength, differences and similarities of industry structure of cities in Yangtze River Delta region, the evolution of urban function was analyzed by the dynamic analysis of time series. The founding included: From 1996-2005,Yangtze River Delta with Shanghai as the leading city formed the main core of urban agglomeration of advanced production services;adjacent to Shanghai,Suzhou and Wuxi become the cities of technology-intensive industrial clustering,Nanjing,Hangzhou,Ningbo had a high industrial value functions, these 6 cities of the Yangtze River Delta region framed the core areas;the rest of the cities belonged to the periphery of the lower value-added areas, and tend to the unstructured homogenization of urban functions.
