Abstract
It's necessary to calculate exposure range of active working dipping sonar for its researching submarine operational application.The parameters in the mean square pressure(MSP) sonar equation are modified and redefined in the acoustic energy(AE) sonar equation.The calculation of Gaussian beams Ray Tracing Bellhop model is revised.The estimation of exposure distance of active working dipping sonar is researched.The submarine can detect active sonar signals with reconnaissance sonar or listen-only sonar.Both the circumstances are simulated and analyzed.The result indicates that the active working dipping sonar will expose at a large distance,especially being detected by the reconnaissance sonar.
