Abstract
The ancient Genus-books is a proprietary phenomenon in china's feudal society, started from view, through Wei, Jin, Southern and Northern Dynasties, Sui and Tang, Five Dynasties, Song and Yuan etc. and toward improving, and finally in Qing Dynasty reached their peak, followed decline gradually. The reason is closely related to the imperial examination system, the rise of textual criticism, and the perfect feudal autocratic rule, therefore, the article attempts to explore from different angles.
