Abstract

Objective: To investigate epidemiologic characteristics of influenza and Influenza-like illness outbreak in Jiangsu province from April 2004 to March 2007.Methods: Influenza surveillance data as used to evaluate the status of influenza and Influenza-like illness outbreak.Results: The total number of outbreaks was 61 with 8 116 cases and the scale of outbreak was the most serious in 2005.All events occurred from December of last year to April of subsequent year.The total number of outbreak or the incident cases was higher in rural areas than that in urban areas,and all events happened in school.The number of outbreak referring to above 50 cases covered 86.89%.The sample detection rate in outbreaks was 95.08% and dominating circulating influenza viral was H3N2,B,H3N2 respectively from 2004 to 2007.Conclusion: Influenza activity was characterized by seasonal,and the dominating circulating influenza viral varied frequently,so it was very important to intensify the influenza surveillance work.
