Abstract
Biochar produced from maize straw was added to soil to investigate its effects on soil available nutrient content when potatoes were planted under drought stress. The results showed that under drought condition, effects of biochar on available nutrients in soil were correlated to application rate compared to at full water level. Furthermore, no significant difference was observed for soil available nutrients when 1% biochar was applied, while contents of available nitrogen and phosphorus were significantly decreased and potassium content increased when biochar was applied at the rate of 10%under drought condition. The above results suggested that biochar application could affect available nutrient under drought condition, but the details is not clear yet.
