Abstract
The lithology was very complex in the Lower Congo Basin. To identify the type of rock , the features of logging data were extracted and they were divided into 17logging facies. In combination with coring data in the area , the 17log facies were assigned with their geological significance.A knowledge base was established for logging facies and lithofacies. And based on the knowledge base and method of identification , the lithology of uncoring section is recognized , a columnar sectional diagram is developed for the target zone.Application of examples shows that the method has high accuracy and good geological effect.
