Abstract

The major performance, composition and principle of multichannel scanning radiometer for FY-2C geostationary meteorological satellite were introduced in this paper. The main technology improvement such as 5 channel focal plane, optical system, structure, electronics, infrared sensor, radiation cooler, optical thin film and structure of secondary scanner, which were used for changing 3 channels to 5 channels, were also presented. The on-orbit test and operation results showed that the multichannel scanning radiometer in FY-2C satellite realized the channel geoobservation simultaneously in the first generation spin geostationary meteorological satellite, which included medium wave infrared channel. The image quality of FY-2C satellite was better than that of GMS-5 and METEOSAT-5 geostationary meteorological satellite, and was similar with the one of GOES-9 three-axis stabilization meteorological satellite.
