The Effects of Ondansetron on Patients with Postoperative Morphine Epidural Analgesia

Abstract

Objective:To detect the prevention of nausea and vomiting on postoperative morphine epidural analgesia in patients with Ondansetron.Methods:160 patients undergoing abdominal surgery were divided randomly into two groups.Morphine was injected for epidural analgesia on each group after operation.8 mg of i.v.Ondansetron was injected at 30 minutes before the end of operation in group Ⅰ while no antiemetic was given in group Ⅱ during perioperation. Results:The incidence of nausea and vomiting in group Ⅰ was much lower than that in group Ⅱ ( P 0.01).No side effect and influence of morphine analgesia was found.Conclusion:Ondansetron is effective on prevention and treatment of nausea and vomiting of postoperative morphine epidural analgesia.
