Study of the correlation between the level of serum visfatin,CRP and carotid atherosclerotic plaque stability in patients with cerebral infarction

Objective This study was designed to investigate relationships between the level of serum visfatin,CRP and stability of carotid atherosclerosis plaque and evaluate the clinical value of serum visfatin,CRP to predict the severity of carotid atherosclerosis and ischemic cerebrovasc-ular disease.Methods The case group(group A)were 52 cases with cerebral infarctions of acute internal carotid system.Group A was divided into stable plaque group(group A1,22cases)and unstable plaque group(group A2,30cases)according to the carotid artery ultrasonography.30 subjects matched by age and gender who made health examination in the hospital served as controls.The two groups were measured the level of serum visfatin,CRP,low density lipoprotein(LDL),fasting plasma glucose(FPG).Results The level of serum visfatin,CRP of group A was higher than that of group B and the level was higher of group A2 than that of group A1.Conclusion The increasing of serum visfatin,CRP level suggested the increasing of instability of carotid atherosclerosis plaque.
