Abstract
The tank floors are frequently corroded randomly with pits and local damages.Magnetic flux leakage inspection is the most effective means to detect corrosion on the surface of double sides of tank bottom plates.By using probabilistic theory, this paper discusses a method to deal with the results of the magnetic flux leakage inspection. The parameters including the maximum pitting depth, the average pitting depth, the average pitting rate, the maximum pitting rate and the pitting breakthrough probability were obtained. This method may be used to describe the corrosion of tank floor quantitatively as well as to predict the probability of corrosion leakage.
