Abstract
Effects of four different Na NO3 concentrations,0.15,0.30,0.75,and 1.50 g/L,on growth of Haematococcus pluvialis and accumulation of astaxanthin were studied. The optimal Na NO3 concentration for growth of H.pluvialis and accumulation of astaxanthin, early as well as high content was determined when nitrogen is depleted. The extracting agent of astaxanthin is acetone in the process. The results showed that the optimal Na NO3 concentration was 0.15 g/L with 5.19 × 105 cells/ml the maximal cell density and 19.136 mg/L the maximal astaxanthin content, while the astaxanthin accumulation started at 23 th day from the culture.
