Effects of Chilling Stress on Biochemical Indexes of Eggplant Seedlings

Abstract

The biochemical indexes under low temperature stress were studied,6 materials were carried on low-temperature treatments,15/10 ℃ in day/ night for 2 days,10/7 ℃ in day/night for 10 days.Several biochemical indexes such as the chilling tolerance,POD activity,SOD activity,APX activity,Pro mass fraction,MDA molalities,root vitality were investigated.The results indicated that there were no big differences among characters at normal temperature,while the differences were extremely significant among all characters at low temperature,CK's indexes POD activity,SOD activity,APX activity,Pro mass fraction,MDA molalities increased,and root vitality decreased after the low temperature treatment,relationship of chilling tolerance with uplift-descent scale of indexes ranging were osculation,the decrease range of POD activity,SOD activity,APX activity,Pro mass fraction of high resisted materials were larger,the decrease range of MDA molalities of high resisted materials were smaller,the increase range of root vitality were smaller,weak resisted materials revealed contrary trend.The growth of eggplant seedlings was negatively influenced by low temperature stress,but the high resisted materials could adjust themselves to avoid low temperature harms by regulating protective enzyme system,which led to some tolerant ability of eggplant to low temperature conditions.
