Abstract

Starting form the viewpoint of the comfort of a garment, this paper analyses the relationship between speed of wind and clothing thermal insulation. It gives the formulae about the relationship between both wind speed and walk speed and clothing thermal insulation under the controllable circumstance conditions and uses a manikin to test in order to validate that the formulae present are useable. The differences of surface air insulation between the manikin with clothing and that without clothing are determined.Clothing thermal insulation includes intrinsic thermal clothing insulation and surface air insulation. The experiment shows that the speed of wind and/or walk can make the resistance of the air layer next to the outer surface of the clothing decrease.
