Abstract
Severe erythema multiforme-type drug eruption(Stevens Johnson syndrome,SJS) is a severe adverse drug reaction, which indicated a risk of mortality. The most common causative drugs include anticonvulsants, antibiotics and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.SJS has genetic predisposition and its diagnosis relies mainly on clinical signs together with the histological analysis of the skin biopsy. The management of patients with SJS requires rapid diagnosis, interruption of the suspected drug, evaluation of the prognosis and specialized supportive care. This review summarizes the progress in pathogenesis, diagnosis and treatment of SJS.
