On Vocabulary Differences of British English & American English

Abstract

British English and American English are the two most influencial varieties of English.This paper analysizes differences of British English and American English in vocabulary in three respects: polysemant, synonyms,and peculiar words with intention to help learners understand and express appropriately,enrich knowledge on English language and improve efficiency to use English.
