Abstract

Based on the fifth and the sixth census data of Beijing and the survey of each neighborhood, this paper defines the streets as the minimum administration unit to count up the permanent population, and combine the research methods as spatial autocorrelation analysis, gravity center of population and density model discusses the mechanism of spatial structure and evolution characteristics of non-native permanent population in metropolitan areas of Beijing from the year of 2000 to 2010. The result is as follows: ① The distribution of non-native permanent population in metropolitan areas of Beijing has formed a 'Growth Circle-Layer ' in the transitional areas between inner suburbs and outer suburbs, and it has had a tendency for expansion to the directions of the west, the north and the south. ② The distribution of non-native permanent population the pattern of diffused in the whole metropolitan areas while the high concentration in particular areas, which forms a significant spatial agglomeration structure. The gravity center of population has been affected by the non-native permanent population to transfer towards north and east. ③ The distribution of the non-native permanent population in metropolitan areas of Beijing is mainly distributed in a circle of 20 kilometers from the centre of Tiananmen Square. From the center to the edges, the population density keeps increasing, which reaches a density peak 7 kilometers away from the center, and then begins to decrease. The spatial model of the non-native permanent population density varies from that of permanent population. Model Clark is regarded as the most suitable one for the research.
