Abstract
Some molecular techniques applied in the field of environmental microbial ecology were reviewed in this paper. The application of molecular methods such as hybridiaztion of nucleic acid probes, amplification of polymerase chain reaction (PCR), latest gel electrophoresis, quinone profiles and analyses of ribosomal RNA will extend the research field of microbial ecology, and make it possible to study the mechanism of ecology problem at molecular level.
