Abstract

To reveal the physiological-biochemical mechanism of non-1B/1R K-type male sterile wheat lines, the contents of free amino acids, soluble protein and soluble sugar and starch in the panicles of non-1B/1R and 1B/1R male sterile wheat lines of KTSP3314A,K3314A and their maintainers TSP3314B,3314B were investigated at different developmental stages, respectively. The results showed that there were differences in those indexes between non-1B/1R and 1B/1R male sterile wheat lines.Except for soluble sugar content, significant differences in other indexes were observed between 1B/1R male sterile wheat line K3314A and its maintainer 3314B in all the developing stages.Significant differences in all the four indexes were observed between non-1B/1R male sterile wheat line KTSP3314A and its maintainer TSP3314B in binucleate microspore stage. Therefore, those differences may lead to the difference in abortion progress of male sterility between 1B/1R and non-1B/R male sterile lines, which occurred earlier in 1B/1R than non-1B/1R male sterile wheat lines.
