Abstract
In this paper, the polymorphisms of hemopoietin(EPO)gene in Bazhou yak,Datong yak and Jiulong yak were investigated by PCR-SSCP and the results showed that the genetic diversity is rich among the three yak breeds. The genotypes are AA,AB and BB,in which AB genotype is the dominant genotype and allele A is the dominate allele. The χ2 compatibility test indicates that the gene frequencies of all of the three yak breeds are in Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium state.Simultaneously, this research also exhibits that the gene frequency of allele A rises up accompany with the increase of the altitude, while the BB allele frequency, colony heterozygosity and polymorphic information content rise down. This change possibly relates to the adaptive capacity to the oxygen-poor environments.
A significance statement is not available in the OpenAlex record.
