Abstract

OBJECTIVE To study the chemical constituents of the volatile oil from the flowers of Chrysanthemum indicum L..METHODS The essential oil was obtained by supercritical fluid extraction(SFE) and steam distillation. The chemical compositions were separated and identified by GC MS. The relative contents in the essential oil were determined by area nomalization.RESULTS The extraction efficiency of steam distillation was 0.32%, and 46 chemical constituents were separated and identified. The extraction efficiency of supercritical fluid extraction was 3.4%, and 60 chemical constituents were separated and identified.CONCLUSION Monoterpenes, sesquiterpenes and their oxo derivatives appeared to be the major chemical constituents in the oil from the flowers of Chrysanthemum indicum L..The SFE method demonstrated many advantages, such as short extraction time, and accurate with high extraction efficiency, etc.
