Application of the pulmonary function tests in diagnosis of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease

Abstract

Objective To evaluate the pulmonary function tests in diagnosis of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.MethodsA total of 1036 patients were collected in respiratory department from January 2010 to January 2011,and clinic diagnosis and pulmonary function tests was performed to them.ResultsAmong 1036 patients,a total 128 COPD patients were diagnosed,and 27 patients were omission diagnosis and 28 patients were misdiagnosis,with the rates of 21.87% and 21.26%,respectively.There were significant difference in the FEV1(%)and FEV1/FVC(%) rates from mild to very severe COPD and controls(P0.05).The FEV1(%)and FEV1/FVC(%) rates showed decreased trend with the serious condition of COPD(P0.05).ConclusionThe pulmonary function test has important role in diagnosis of COPD,and it could help early diagnosis and treatment of COPD.
