Abstract
Objective To analyze the laboratory characters of 22 patients with light-chain multiple myeloma and to identify light-chain polimer in the urine of these patients. Methods All patients were analyzed by serum and urine protein electrophoresis and immunofixation electrophoresis, and quantified by rate nephelometricmethod for heavy chain and light chain. The light-chain polimer in urine were identified by SDS-PAGE electrophoresis. Results The heavy chains in light chain multiple myeloma patients were obviously lower than those in IgG multiple myeloma patients.Much light chains were found in the patients'urine and the β2-MG and creatinine were also higher.Light-chain polimer appeared in the urine of lightchain multiple myeloma patients. Conclusion Nephridium damage is more serious in light-chain multiple myeloma than in the contrast, and light-chain multiple myeloma patients have more obvious changes in urine than in serun. The light-chain polimer will disturb the detection of urine light chain by rate nephelometricmethod.
