Abstract
Objective:To understand the epidemic characteristics of measles in Mianyang city in 2009 and summarize the experience of measles control for eliminating measles disease in 2012.Methods:The epidemic characteristics of measles cases of Mianyang city from the surveillance system in 2009 were analyzed.Results:51 uncertain measles cases were reported in 2009,the incidence of measles was 0.96/100 000,the total cases and incidence of measles in 2009 were both lower than that in 2008.Most of the cases appeared from February to May and their age was mainly under 2 years old or over 15 years old. There not measles outbreaks in 2009.Conclusion:The inoculation rate for measles vaccination of less than 2 years is low,it is necessary to strengthen population immunization and eliminate blank immunization especially in planned immunization weak areas. The sensitivity of measles surveillance should be improved for discovering the uncertain measles cases timely and controlling the measles effectively.
