Abstract
Objective To determine the level of serum vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF) in patients with lung carcinoma and evaluate their clinic significance. Methods Serum VEGF were measured by sandwich enzyme linked immunoadsorbent assay(ELISA) in 80 patients with lung carcinoma and 30 healthy individuals, respectively. Results were compared. Results Serum VEGF levels(160±15.3pg/ml) in lung carcinoma was significantly higher than those in the normal controls(40±20.6pg/ml) (P0.01). No correlation was found between gender and age. Conclusion Serum VEGF level has very important clinical significance in estimating tumor burden, therapeutic effectiveness, relapsing and metastasis of tumor, and prognosis in patients with lung carcinorma.
