Abstract

[Objective] To discuss the complication of breast augmentation with injected polyacrylamide hydrogel(PAHG) and to explore the methods of removing PAHG through mammary areolar.[Methods] Clinical data of 86 patients who suffered complications from PAHG injection for augmentation mammaplasty were analyzed. They all underwent operation to remove PAHG through the mammary areolar incision.[Results] Almost all injected augmentation material was removed via this approach. The incisions in all of the patients were primary healing. All of them were free from infection and hematoma. The breasts were symmetry. The incision scars were not very obvious. The breasts of 8 patients were drooping lightly.[Conclusions] This method of removing PAHG through mammary areolar is effective and satisfactory to patients with PAHG mammoplasty, and it is the safe and reliable way to treat the complications of breast augmentation with injection.
