THEORETICAL APPROACHES TO THE CONSTRUCTION OF ECOLOGICAL CITY

An ecological city refers to a city in which the structureo function and services of the natural ecological system in the city area coordinate and integrate the structure and function of the social and economic system in the same area. Construction of an ecological city indicates that city development enters a new phase,and requires new theories and new thinkings for its development for city development. We should apply the new thinking of five overall plans-- between different regions, between economy and society, between cities and rural areas, between man and nature,and between domestic development and opening to the outside world, so as to guide the construction of an ecological city. We appreciate promoting the integration of material civilization, spiritual covitizantion, political civitization and ecological civitization. Meanwhile national economic system should be transferred from chain economy to cycle-economy, from natural economy to ecological economy. Finally,the ecological city should build its own ecological cultural system so as to consolidate the social foundation for ecological construction.
