Abstract
Using the 3D hail cloud model developed by IAP, A hailstorm occurred in Nanyang, Henan province on May 9,1999 has been simulated. The results show that there is an accumulating zone of surpercooling water where hails grow. Seeding using decreases the amount of Hail on ground, but the seeding effects is resulted on different time, height and dosage. The best effect of seeding lies on the accumulating zone of surpercooling water in hail cloud just before hail begins forming.
