Abstract

【Objective】 To evaluate the effects of Esomeprazole on serum interleukin-6(IL-6),IL-8,tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α) and C-reactive protein(CRP) in patients with severe acute pancreatitis(SAP).【Methods】 48 patients with SAP were randomly divided into group E(Esomeprazole group) 24 cases and group O(Omeprazole group) 24 cases, and 24 healthy persons were selected as group C(Control group).CYP2C19 genotypes of the patients were determined by the polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism(PCR-RFLP) assay.Concentrations of serum IL-6,IL-8,TNF-α and CRP of the group E and group O were detected before treatment(d0),on the first day after treatment(d1),d4,d7and d14 as well as group C.Concentrations of serum IL-6,IL-8,TNF-α were determined by ELISA and CRP by immune transmission turbidity assay, respectively.【Results】 There was no difference of CYP2C19 genotypes between group O and group E.Concentrations of serum IL-6,IL-8,TNF-α and CRP of the group O and group E were statistically higher than those of group C(P 0.01).Concentrations of serum IL-6,IL-8 and TNF-α of the group E were statistically lower than those of group O on d4,d7 and d14(P 0.05 or P 0.01).Concentrations of serum CRP of the group E were statistically lower than those of group O on d4 only(P 0.05).【Conclusion】 Esomeprazole injection can lower the levels of serum IL-6,IL-8 and TNF-α and treat patients with SAP efficiently and steadily.
