Abstract

Based on 14-15 years tree growth in one testing site,114 open-pollinated families of plus tree from three seed sources were tested. The results indicated that there are significant differences in the Height,Diameter and Crown among the different families; The variation Among families is six times as much as that between families;the heritability of height is just middle, only 0.6,that of the Diameter is the highest,up to 0.64 as well as that of Crown of tree is only 0.51;The family heritability is much higher than the single tree heritability;Taking the backward-selection by 25%,the expected genetics gains is 16%,exceeding 8%the forward-selections,and the breeding value of the families selected is up to 0.99,which indicates the breeding potential. In conclusion I discuss the selection technique, point out the direction for the development and the strategy of Pinus taburaeformis seed orchard.
