Transplantation of the adult islets of langerhans cells by transportal intrahepar

Objective To assess the therapeutic effects of transplantation of the adult islet cells by transportal intrahepar for type 1 diabetes.Methods Three times of intrahepatic transplantation of islet cells were performed in a patient with type 1 diabetes.The changes in blood glucose level , C-peptide, the dose of insulin and immunologic suppressive drug were observed before and after the transplantation.Results After the transplantation, the patient's diet was unlimited, she grew normally, the level of blood glucose was decreased to 27% , the dose of insulin was decreased to 40% and the C-peptide was significantly increased than before. Conclusions The procedure is established for the transplantation of the adult islet cells by transportal intrahepar, there is an affirmative therapeutic effect in the patient with type 1 diabetes after transplantation.
