Abstract
Based on the essential meaning of urbanization, this study establishs a multi- dimensional index system to evaluate China's urbanization in provincial level, and use spatial econometrics method to reveal the spatial difference among 31 provincial regions. We find that:(1) Excessive urbanization and lagged urbanization distribute across eastern and western regions of China;(2)There exists a significantly spatial difference and spatial independence of China's urbanization on provincial scale;(3)The elasticity coefficient of disposable income of urban households, per capita GDP,the number of beds in health care institutions per 1000 persons and per capita investment in fixed assets to urbanization in provincial level are positive and significant at 5% level. More importantly, the coefficient of SEM is minus which implies there exists arocker effectbetween different provinces of different gradient, especially among the east and the west.
