Effects of Glutamine Dipeptide on Growth,Immunity,Antioxidance and Small Intestinal Mucosa Morphology of Weanling Piglets

Abstract

This trial was conducted to study the effect of glutamine(Gln)dipeptide on growth,immunity,antioxidance and small intestinal mucosa morphology of weanling piglets to investigate mechanism of alleviating weanling stress.Ninety six crossbred Duroc×(Landrace×Largewhite)weanling piglets of weighing(6.23±0.13)kg were allocated to 4 treatments with 4 replicates of 6 piglets each(half male,half female).Piglets per treatment were respectively fed one of the experimental diets supplemented with 0%,0.125% and 0.25% Gln dipeptide and 2% spray dried plasma protein(SDPP).The results indicated that the supplementation of 0.125% and 0.25% Gln dipeptide improved growth performance,and the effect of 0.125% Gln dipeptide in improving growth performance reached or exceeded those of 2% SDPP(P0.05),however,feed cost per kg gain of 0.125% Gln dipeptide was lower than that of 2%SDPP(P0.05).With the increasing Gln dipeptide supplementation levels,CD4+ in blood was increased(quadratic,P=0.08)on 10 day,serum GSH-Px activity was respectively increased(linear,P=0.02 and quadratic,P=0.10)on 10 and 21 day,serum SOD activity was increased(linear,P=0.10 and 0.08)on 10 and 21 day.Crypt depth of 0.125%Gln dipeptide was significant lower than that of control on 21 day post-weanling.Gln dipeptide might alleviate stress of weanling piglets through strengthening cell immunity,improving antioxidance and protecting from atrophy of small intestinal mucosa villus.Supplementation of 0.125% Gln dipeptide not only had the best effect,but also had the lowest feed cost per kg gain.
