Evaluation of Unsedated Transnasal Esophagogastroduodenoscopy in Clinical Practice

Objective:To evaluate the efficacy of unsedated transnadal esophagogastroduodeno-scopy.Methods: 60 patients with upper gastrointestinal tract disorders were examined with unsedated transnadal esophagogastroduodenoscopy(Olympus GIF-XP260N),the preparation of pre-examination was the same with that of conventional endoscope.Result: Examination of upper gastrointestinal tract was completed in all with no complaint in 103(85.8%),14(11.7%)had mild and 3(2.5%)serious discomfort.Conclusion: Unsedated transnadal esophagogastroduodenoscopy is a new technique for upper gastrointestinal endoscope.It is better tolerated by patients with a lower incidence of nausea,and may obviate the need for conscious sedation.Therefore,it is a safe and feasible alternative to conventional endoscope.
