Abstract
Field experiments with rape cultivar 'Suyou 4' were conducted under various N fertilizer rates to investigate the effects of N fertilizer rate on the rapeseed yield and quality. The results showed that the suitable N fertilizer rate for 'Suyou 4' was 270~313 kg/hm~2,and increasing N fertilizer rate improved the rapeseed yield mainly due to the increase of effective pods.Increasing N fertilizer rate less influenced the primary branches but had a greater impact on the secondary branches. With the N fertilizer rate increasing, the oil and protein contents of rapeseed gradually increased and then decreased but there were no direct effects on the erucic acid and glucosinolate contents of rapeseed.
