Abstract
Objective To discuss the clinical significance of three-dimensional reconstruction with spiral CT(3D) for repair of traumatic orbital deformities. Methods 3D CT reconstruction of the orbital area in 12 patients were performed preoperatively by using this imaging technique, and subsequently the edge of the orbital fracture was repositioned accurately, fixed sturdily, and reconstructed with a Medpor implant intraoperatively. Results Three-dimensional reconstruction with spiral CT can reveal complex facial fragments at the brim of the orbit, and adjacent structures can be displayed especially clearly. After 4~28 months follow up,all patients were satisfied with the shape of the orbital area. Four cases with depressed eyeball were repaired, and 2 cases with ambiopa were rectified without recurrence. Conclusion 3D CT provides a new reliable method for designing and practicing operations in orbital injuries, which may be used to guide clinical application.
