Nonextraction treatment for the class II division I malocclusions of intraversion.

Abstract
Objective To investigate the possibility of nonextraction treatment for the class Ⅱ division Ⅰ malocclusions of intraversion. Methods Eight patients with class Ⅱ division Ⅰ malocclusions of intraversion were treated by edgewise appliance before the eruption of the second molar through expansion of the dental arch and movement of the first molar distally without extractions. Results The lateral cephalograms indicated that after treatment, the upper incisors were more retracted and uprighted among the subjects, with better coordination between the maxilla and mandible. The patients' profiles were much improved, and anterior overjet and overbite became normal. Molar relation changed from class Ⅱ to class Ⅰ. Conclusion Nonextraction treatment for class Ⅱ division Ⅰ malocclusions of intraversion is feasible for some patients with relative indications.
