Abstract

Based on literatures about fusarium wilt of banana published in the world, this article outlines the progress of the research on this disease, including its distribution, symptoms, occurrence reasons, damage to the production, anti-fusari-um wilt breeding and possible mechanism of disease-resistant cultivars. The present worldwide management measures are also discussed, with reference to scientific researchers attempting to find integrated solutions to control of this disease. Fusarium wilt of banana is considered as one of the most destructive worldwide diseases of banana , caused by a kind of soil epiphyte, and is badly endangering the production of banana, which arise extensive attentions and researches. The essential solution is to breed new cultivars incorporated with high cropping, good quality and high resistance to fusarium wilt. Many achievements have been obtained in breeding fields, such as mutation breeding, cross breeding, genetic engineering and somatic hybridization and so on. However, research on the anti-disease mechanism of disease-resistant cultivar is initiated just now.
