Abstract

[Objective]To explore the combinational effects of methioine and vitamin C on the improvement of learning and remembering of SD rats induced by lead.[Methods]Twenty-two SD rats those gave up breast feeding were divided into the control group and the experimental group randomly. The rats in lead exposed group were fed with the concentration of 1.3g/l of lead nitrate in water solution. At the same time, the rats in experimental group were lavaged by two nutrients(methioine and vitamin C).Compared with the experimental group, the rats in control group only were lavaged by water.Eight weeks later, measurement of the activity of SOD and the level of MDA in hippocampus and Morris water maze test were used to determine the capacity of learning and remembering.[Results]The blood lead values of experimental group were far lower than those of the control group(t=-30.81,P﹤0.01)and the activity of SOD in hippocampus in the experimental group was higher than the that in control group(t=7.768,P﹤0.01).The latent period of the experimental group was shorter than that of the control group(t=-2.180,P﹤0.05).[Conclusion]Methioine and vitamin C may reduce blood lead and improve the function of learning and remembering.
