Development of inpatients accompany needs questionnaire

Objective:To develop a questionnaire for evaluating the accompany needs of inpatients and to test the reliability and validity of the questionnaire.Methods:This study was based on hierarchy of human needs theory and human caring theory.Research methodologies included literature review and the seminar and expert advice.We developed a questionnaire including 30 items and five dimensions which were physiological,safety,love and belonging,esteem and self-actualization needs.We tested reliability and validity of the questionnaire among 380 inpatients.Results:The total Cronbach's α coefficient of the questionnaire was 0.939 and the content validity rate was 0.853.The Correlation between total questionnaire and each dimension were 0.817～0.909.The Correlation among each dimension were 0.481～0.664.Principle components analysis method was used to extract 5 components and the cumulative contribution of variance was 69.159%.Conclusion:The questionnaire has acceptable reliability and validity and has clinical value.
