From Alienated Labor to Alienated Consumption

In Marx’s theory, alienation is a kind of analysis way rather than only a philosophic conception. Alienated thinking became an important thinking model for west Marxists. From the criticism on alienated labor to the criticism on alienated consumption, we can see the new changes in modern capitalist society. In view of these new changes, western Marxists launch new criticisms on society. To some degree, their viewpoints have improved Marxist theory and widened Marxist’s vision. More important, these viewpoints are great enlightenment which can help us to uphold the scientific concept of development and to build up a society of ecological civilization where both mankind and the nature can be developed harmoniously.
