Abstract
Median filter and average filter are usually used to process impulse noise and Gaussian noise respectively. But when image is corrupted by Gaussian noise and impulse noise simultaneously, good filtering effect cannot be obtained if only using median filter or average filter. In allusion to this question,an improved adaptive weighted average filter based on the medium value is proposed. This method applies a new calculational method based on adaptive threshold to optimize coefficients of filter, and can suppress noise efficiently and preserve edge details of image at the same time.Result shows that the method can be effective for the removal of the mixed noise, and have better filtering effect than the classical methods.
